Elmira Maple Syrup Festival

Last weekend I travelled east to visit a fellow exchange teacher who lives in Hillsburgh. Hillsburgh is situated 2hrs 20mins drive from London, and is mostly rural. We had decided to attend the local Maple Syrup Festival, and as you can see from my images I have finally experienced my first pancakes and maple syrup dish. Again as is the Canadian tradition, serving sizes are 'small'... I must say 'real' maple syrup is v.v.sweet. I enjoyed the village atmosphere of Elmira, and was intrigued by the local Menonite community. Whilst enjoying the day, we also bumped into some more exchange teachers, boy we sure get around! So it was good to catch up with an aussie accent, and sense of humour regarding our experiences. Regarding the weather, again we had been lulled into a false sense of it's spring, no more jackets or winter woolies. However, this was not the case on this weekend, with temperatures of zero we were forced back into our many layers and boots.

London Knights Playoff Game II

Yes, we're back discussing Ice Hockey, and why not? London is in the thick of Play-off fever, with 'our' team the London Knights progressing onto the 2nd round. I was fortunate enough to again attend a game between the London Knights and Eerie Otters. Another bonus is that one of our RMC student's plays on the team. Wow, what a night with London coming back from 0 - 2 down to a winning score of 6 - 3. The second round games begin on Thursday, with London playing the Soo Greyhounds.
